Spray Logics S.r.l. and Elactis SA Secure Eureka Grant to Advance Precision Spraying and Plant Mapping Technologies
The over 1 Million projects granted by Eureka Eurostar EU program will be co-funded by the European Union through Horizon Europe and will support “OptiMist,” a joint project to optimize mist-blower sprayers and develop real-time plant mapping for orchards and vineyards.
Spray Logics S.r.l. and Elactis SA are proud to announce that they have been awarded a grant from the Eureka Eurostar, supported by the EU to co-develop the “OptiMist” project – a versatile precision orchard and vineyard sensor system for sprayer companies.
The project is designed to significantly reduce chemical usage, enhance fruit quality, help farmers optimize production, and promote biodiversity.
Current spraying methods in orchards waste the essential part of the chemicals damaging the environment and the harvest and are labor intensive. Spray Logics and Elactis have recently demonstrated their ability to solve similar problems for horizontal boom applications in precision agriculture.
The “OptiMist” solution will integrate optical sensors, solenoid valves, and advanced control algorithms into a versatile platform that enables:
- Targeted chemical application at every growth stage, from pre-vegetation to post-harvest treatments.
- Significant reductions in chemical usage, protecting both the environment and fruit quality.
- Improved productivity through automated, data-driven precision spraying.
- Biodiversity promotion by minimizing chemical drift and preserving ecosystems.
- Automatic Flower Thinning, helping the farmer to increase fruit size and productivity.
This solution will empower farmers to optimize orchard and vineyard management, delivering a strong return on investment while meeting increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
