Optronia GmbH (Spray Logics) Spraying Technology Achieves up to 94.8% Accuracy in Independent Field Trials

Innsbruck, Austria – October 24,2024 – Spray Logics successfully demonstrated the effectiveness of its precision spraying technology, achieving an impressive 94.8% application accuracy in independent field evaluations green on brown.
The trials, conducted by the Josephinum Research as part of the EU-project agrifoodTEF, confirm the system’s ability to significantly reduce chemical use while maintaining precision in pesticide application.
The field trials took place in Innsbruck’s Alpine climate on a fallow field, where the technology was tested integrated into boom sprayers, equipped with Spray Logics’ sensors. To ensure precise measurement, the field sprayer was filled with water and fluorescent paint, allowing researchers to visually and quantitatively assess the sprayed areas.
Performance Validated Against Key Industry Metrics
The evaluation was based on industry-relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
KPI #1 – Proportion of sprayed area to total area: 11.83%, saving 88.17% of spray agent compared to conventional full-area application.
KPI #2 – Application accuracy on plants: 94.8%, confirming the system’s precision in targeting vegetation.
KPI #3 – False positive spray area: Minimal, reinforcing the efficiency of the technology in distinguishing target plants from non-target areas.
These results highlight Spray Logics’ ability to minimize chemical input while maximizing accuracy, making it a game-changer for sustainable and cost-efficient farming.
Independent Testing and Validation
The testing was conducted by the Josephinum Research, an Austrian institution with core competences in the fields of data science, AI, robotics, measurement and sensor technology for farming. The research center collaborates with industry leaders to drive innovation in agriculture.
