ANIMAL DETECTION & PROTECTION

Detect, analyze, recognize wildlife, birds, and nests

Developed in collaboration with PÖTTINGER, it is a system that guarantees the protection of wildlife in the collection of fodder.

PROTECTING BIODIVERSITY

Ground-nesting birds , small mammals, and especially fawns face significant risks of injury or death. In Austria, around 25,000 fawns are killed every year during mowing, while in Germany these numbers reach 100,000 to 200,000. This issue arises due to several factors:

  • Hiding behavior: Many animals rely on grasslands for cover and nesting. They tend to stay hidden and may not be able to escape quickly enough when mowing begins.

  • Breeding season: Mowing often coincides with the breeding season for many species, increasing the risk of killing young animals or destroying nests.

  • Lack of awareness: Farmers and landowners may not always be aware of the presence of wildlife or the best practices to minimize harm during mowing. Often farmers are unable to see them or react quickly enough to stop the machine.

That is why we at Spray Logics work hard to mitigate the harmful effects on biodiversity. Our sensors for animal detection are designed to recognize an animal in the grass and stop the machine while lifting the blades. We continuously test our sensors in the field to assess their performance and identify areas for improvement.

Our team combines expertise in optics, software and electronics for the benefit of our environment. We develop solutions that utilize the potential of intelligent sensor technology. Our optical sensors cover three main areas:

smart agriculture - environmental technology - industrial applications.
